This project is little more than a personal experiment. I was looking to create a series of images which start with a single digital photo as the foundation, but finish in different visual impressions according to many factors, most quite tangential. Originally I planned on using an old Eugene Atget landscape photograph.

When I came upon the shot of Rachael Leigh Cook seen here, I was spurred to discover if her portrait would better fit the project’s goals. A few test images later and I was convinced; that Rachael is a rather amazing looking creature simplified the decision making process. I settled on the image from the test, as it worked so well for me. Naming the project became easy after that, though the acronym from Rachael Image Project seemed, well…anyway, I went with her full name.

The image selected as the template for the project is from a Bikini Magazine cover (Feb. 2000). It was cropped and sized for a portraiture of sorts and set to 4×3 aspect ratio. From this a “clean” graphic or template was made to fix obvious flaws caused by resizing and to extract artifacts of previous work done to remove cover text (the magazine title partially obscured Rachael’s right temple). Project images are JPEG format, 640×480 pixels.

If you’re visiting as a Rachael Leigh Cook fan, sorry to disappoint. I’m familiar with Miss Cook’s work, but not to the point of being involved with a fan site on her behalf. You’ll be better off in your RLC search if you journey on to one of these locations:
